Just bought a 280 Gasgas txt 2001 model does anyone know what air pressure should be in the rear shocker? the shocker doesnt seem to have any damping and there was no sign of any air pressure at the valve.:(

Also spring was screwed up tight on adjuster should I slacken this off a bit?

Skip,

First, trails bikes have very fast damping rates compared to an MXer or Enduro. This may be obvious to some, but not to others.

The adjuster screw has some, but very limited effect on these shocks. All the way in will be slowest setting (most damping).

Does your shock have a schraeder valve? If it has indeed lost it's charge, then it can be recharged. Look for signs of oil leakage around the seal head (where the shock shaft goes into the body). If a shock looses it's charge, it commonly leaks at this seal.

As for pressures, I beleive they use around 150psi, but I'd check with www.gasgas.com in the tech section to comfirm this.
