Hi GasGas Family.
I bought a new motorcycle. Ec 250 Racing 2T(2012)

How many milliliter oil should I put the gearbox?
I did a search but could not find it on the website. Could you help?

I would think it is the same as my 2010 which takes 900ml

Personal preference and good results makes me recommend belray gear saver oil

and welcome to the gg family

This is the Best Gasgas Forum on the internet , welcome aboard ! Search this subject and you will find quite a few answers , I use Rotella and ATF mix works great with the Recluse . Where are you from ?

Yeah. really I can find all the answers I'm looking for here. Everyone they help each other. Meanwhile, I use google translation. I'm from Turkey. In my country, very few people use GasGas. But I love so much this bike. No one can ask something about this motorcycle around me.
Fortunately I found this community. :o

Its worth removing the sightglass and cleaning after oil is drained.also start by putting 800 in and give it some time.for some reason it takes a few minutes to find its way to the sightglass where you can read it.also the filler plug is smallish so make sure your filler will fit b4 you drop oil.the front plug is crankcase (drown it,drain it).rear plug is gearbox
Mine usually takes 850-900 (13 200)

I use atf type F. I have used it in all the bikes I have owned and have never had an issue. I find that the clutch is a little smoother and don't over heat as easy in real tight stuff.

Use that stuff, got it in my gasser and fzs1000, and car. Works lovely, no problems at all, I've done the research on the specs, it's basically as high as you will get before fuel conserving additives go in.

Seriously, I nerded over this for weeks, my mate with his r6 didn't believe me until I showed him how low a spec bike oils really are. He's got it in his bike now and won't shut up about how nice the clutch is and how "it feels like it revs easier".

If you are going to use atf, try havoline maxlife atf dexron 6, meant for wet clutches and rated for 100,000 miles or 50,000 racing miles to GM spec. I use this in my forks and clutch circuit also, the viscosity at 40c is 28cSt, which is the perfect 7.5w oil, but with all the benefits of an oil actually designed to do something ;).

I apologise for the hijack, but if you want to save money and do the best for your bike :D.

I advise against atf in the gearbox if you don't change it often though, the PV drains into the gearbox on our bikes and there are very little acidity regulators in atf, or and gearbox oil. Hence use of a proper engine oil is recommended.

so what intervals do you keep the oil from the link in before changing?

I used to use comma ATF type F and changed it about every 4hours, since buying the gasser ive used motul transoil and probably change at about 6 - 8hours.

I like the idea of a 5lite tub for ?20 including delievery so will probably order one up on your recommendation, cheers mucker!

I mix a 50/50 blend of Dexron 6 ATF and 10-40 motorcyle synthetic oil. I only do it this way because I used to have 4 stroke bikes and had a couple cases of 4t oil sitting around. This way I can use it up. I also keep Dexron 6 on hand for my truck.
I'll still mix a good 4t bike oil or similar and ATF once my stock of 10-40 has run out.

I put 900 ml in and change it every 20 hrs.

Honestly, these bikes are tanks and you could probably run just about anything in them without issue.....

I thank you for all the answers. But I've got a problem. I've been in the city only has Castrol dealer. I can get that transmission oil castrol.
Which one should I use? for EC 250 Racing 2T (2012)

1- Castrol Power 1 Racing 4T 5w-40 1Lt
2- Castrol Power 1 Racing 4T 10w-50 1Lt

I'm waiting for your help. Thanks all.

If Castrol is your choice, you can also use their MTX oil which is made for gearboxes like ours. I have used it some times and it works just fine.

over the years and the last few bikes, i have tried all sorts of different oils and atf... some are better for the chirpy clutch, most dont make much difference.
i pretty much use whatever reasonable quality oil is on sale at the time, and have never had clutch or gearbox issues... i like penrite products, but im australia.... as said before these things are basically the massy fergison of the bike world....
regular oil changes is the secret i believe.....

OK so I'm bringing this up. Hate oil threads. Anyway I have had a couple of cases of Bel-Ray 10W-40 Mineral Oil. I haven't been real happy with it in the Gassers. However I can't argue with free. But it's all used up.

I'm 99% sure I'm going to switch to Rotella 5W-40, T6. Full synthetic. Just double checking myself that with that. That's pretty much what all our machines will switch to.

Any issues?

I'm using 0W-40 Rotella T6 and it works OK. I had 5W-40 T6 before and can't tell any difference.

I doubt any oil will get rid of the typical clutch drag on a wet clutch. The only time I get clutch noise is if I'm in a gear too high for the conditions.

Merhaba,

900-1000ml of ATF type F is what I use.

Where in Turkey are you from? I Travel to Konya From time to time.
