I am looking to upgrade to a newer bike. I currently ride a 1998 GasGas EC250.
I have narrowed my list to the Gas Gas ec300 or the Husqvarna te300. Any thoughts?
I am 5'10" 150lbs
Experience: Advanced
I have ridden both extensively. I have a 2014 Gas 300 and my buddy has a 2015 TE300.
Although I may garner criticism on a Gas forum for this, based on Gas Gas bankruptcy and uncertainty I would buy the TE300 if it were my money.
The difference between the 2? The Gas has more low end power but signs off early compared to the TE300. The TE300 is HP king and will win a drag race. The mid and top end are breathtaking on the TE.
Personally my Gas 300 has been unreliable, while my friends TE has been a solid as a Sherman tank. The TE is lighter and feels it, but my Gas is planted and turns better, a true cornering KING. The TE forks SUCK and need work to be improved. Love my Zooks on the Gas, one of the best forks I have ridden.
Gas has more racy aftermarket bling (like front and rear axle pulls, and FMF exhaust, v-force reed). In the looks department, the GAS is the hands down winner. The TE white plastics looks crappy and gets scratched up after the first 2 rides. The plastics on my Gas still look like new after a wash.
My non electric start Gas is heavier than the electric start TE. Both have on demand dual map switches.
I got my GAS 300 left over at a crazy good price, which is what pushed me over the edge. If I had to pay list price for both, I would buy the TE and put money aside for the 4CS forks.
Last but not least the TE will hold much better resale.
