A heads up here. I just measured my '07 OEM triple clamp, and with the OEM bar mounts (no offset) in the forward position, center bar to center steering stem is 23mm, which would make the correct part #1004043. I have the BRP top mount that was on Boomer's '07 and it is indeed that same part#. A #1004040 will work on an '07 but with 3mm offset bar mounts moving the bars 3mm back from the forward position. Could some pre '07 OEM triple clamps be different? Don't know, I ran a BRP on my older bikes.

My 07 450 bar mounts have the offset. The dozen or so bikes i have set up with dampers all had offset mounts and used a 1004040 clamp for what i would call #4 position all the way forward. This is my experiance with bikes 05-07. With this info it would be wise to make sure of what you have before buying anything.
