I have a 250EC that suddenly started having a much harder clutch pull. I changed the fluid a couple of times to try different fluids (currently 2.5 wt fork oil), but none of the fluids seemed to make any difference.
I tried some springs a friend had that were about the same thickness, but slightly shorter. Laying on the side with the cover off, if felt very easy and I thought I had solved the problem. However, when I stood it back up with the cover on, it was just as hard as before.
That being said, I did change the oil to 20-50 with hot weather coming and I did put a full quart in (as instructed). I'm thinking that either the thicker oil and/or the amount of oil is the key since the pull was super soft laying on its side with no oil in the clutches. I think I'll try 5-30 oil and maybe 750 ml.
Could the thicker oil and full quart actually cause a harder pull. I've never noticed it before, but it sure looks like that is the issue.
Comments? Thanks!
