Headlight insert options?

I have a 2012 EC300 Race (no e-start). The previous owner put a different light bulb in it with hopes to have a brighter headlight. It wasn't long before he put the stock bulb back in as I guess it got very hot and started to melt the headlight fixture  .

I would like to have a brighter light and also fix the melted plastic clear lense. Any of u guys know of a good insert replacement? Something LED that is easy to install with out having to hack into my plastic headlight shroud too badly? Any links to where I can order something? I'm in North America, so preferably nothing overseas to avoid high shipping costs.

Also, where I don't have e-start, is my power supply AC or DC?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanx.

I put a cree led eBay bike light in mine. It's not crazy bright, but it's better than stock. Gasgasman is right about it being tight back there. I started with one of these...

Three cree LEDs. Then I cut the housing down to fit and ditched the driver board. I ordered a driver from ledsupply.com the sits outside the housing. It's a sealed unit you can wire in and add a dimmer if desired. Mine is just double stuck to the back of the light housing.

I'm curious.
Is this for Offroad/Enduro purposes, or for road use?

If for offroad, why not rather use a helmet mounted light? Works a lot better than the headlight on the bike coz it points where you look.

I use:

Mounts on a gopro mount so you can stick them anywhere. It's nice and vertical so ideal on the side of the helmet, just behind the eyes opening.

Do you have access to a multimeter? If so, its easy to check. On my '15 its DC even if I have no e-start. I have a cylindrical component in the airbox. I guess this is a capacitor. If you also have one, I would say you probably have DC. Take a look at your wiring and see If you find where the wire from the stator goes. There you may find your regulator (or regulator / rectifier).
