Help with brake pedal please!!!

The rear brake pedal on my 2001 XC300 had developed quite a bit of side to side play at the pivot point so I ordered the hardened bushing from GoFasters. It arrived today and maybe I'm missing something but it isn't at all what I was expecting and don't see how it's going to work.

Someone please help me, I was planning to ride tomorrow, now not so sure.

So after looking at some of the parts fiche on GoFasters, I think they sent me the actual pivot shaft for the newer bikes that a bolt goes all the way through and secures to the frame. My pivot shaft is welded to the frame and is threaded on the outside for the bolt that holds the pedal on. Doesn't look like this will work for me at all. What do I need to ask them for to obtain the acutal bushing that goes between the pivot shaft and the hole in the brake pedal?

I bored mine out and fitted two ball bearings, now sweet as, silky smooth and any wear is now in the bearings (609s I think), so easily replaced:D
Don't forget to leave a lip to retain the bearings tho, used bearing retainer to keep them in.

The welded pivot pin wears out. So, theoretically , you have to replace the frame.

GoFasters sent you the "right" part. You will have to grind down the welded pin and drill a hole for the bolt that goes through the new pivot bushing.

I had to do the same thing to my 2001 Gas Gas.

stemplin,

Where did you find that bushing on the GF site? It does not look OEM and I did not see it in hard parts. The shoulder looks larger, unless its just the photo angle.

Gasgasman

The bronze bushing is the part I need. I can see where it might be beneficial to replace the pivot at some point so that it becomes a replaceable wear item, it's just not what I was expecting to receive after talking to gofasters on the phone. I see they call the bronze sleeve a bearing?? I called it a bushing and got the wrong part I guess.

I called them on the phone and described what I was looking for (not the part I received, lol). Mark called it a hardened bushing I believe.

I had the same issue on my 2003 and I ordered the bolt, bronze bushing and the steel pivot all at once and it made it like a new one. I did cut the height adjuster off a little while I had it apart so that I could lower the pedal a little for my big foot.
