I need a 5.0 Ohlins shock spring

How much you want for the 5.2 ?
Whats your weight.
Im 215 with gear and the 5.6 is way too stiff ..not using all the travel .
Gasser ...make me an offer .

JMO but 5.0 is WAY too soft and 5.2 may be a little soft for your weight, unless you prefer things real soft. I'd consider a 5.4. My '03 didn't steer as fast as my '00 with the longer shock, or the '05+, so I wouldn't go too soft in the rear.

moto520, I've got used 5.0 and 5.4. As GMP said the 5.4 would be much better for your weight.I'll send you both for $25.00 plus shipping.-DLS

springs

DLS,
Got the springs check is in the mail thanks,
Went with the 5.0 . the 5.4 was still too stiff for offroad .
I actually want to try a softer spring yet.
The gasser must have an aggressive ratio . My KTM 525 still is better with a greater range of adjustability with an exc shock and pds 6 spring but the gasser is close on its heels.
Anyone have a 4.8 ?

shock and springs

Well I decided to send the Ohlins shock to Mike Wiesner because it just wasnt working right .
The 5.0 spring tested out to be a 5.2 and the shock had alot of trapped air so it wasnt bled correctly from the factory.
There was alo a rebound check valve installed from the factory which he removed .
He fitted a 96 yz 250 stock spring to it . 4.8 rate .
Hope to test it tommorow .

Wow, you must like your suspension really soft. Be careful you don't screw up the steering. Have you considered trying a longer pull rod set with the 5.4or 5.2 spring? They will soften the initial travel. Also when comparing springs the Ohlins is rated in Nm, the YZ spring in Kg/mm.

how do i know what it is?

I replaced the one of my 300 when I learned it was not right for me. I don't remember what it was or even what I replaced it with. I really need to keep better notes.

The numbers off the old one are as follows:

OHLINS 00596-11/54 L153

Can you tell me what it is? And if anyone needs it. I have no use for it.

thanks,

Allan

Im comparing the shock on the gasser to my tried and true 525 KTM which I mainly ride motocross on but occasionally ride woods.
The Gasser shock on the mc 250 gets real stiff at the last 3/4 of the stroke compared to the more Linear KTM shock .
Im running the 99 KTM 380 sx front end which is a 50 mm wp conventional fork and I run a summers racing fork brace . It took going to the much lighter YZ spring to get the back end to squat and hook up and balance out with the plush front end. I just raced the bike in a Hairscranble last weekend and it really worked great almost planting the power to the ground like my four stroke. Its using all the travel now and is very predictable . The Ohlins shock is very tunable with a few clicks either way on comp and rebound damping .
Changing from the Ohlins inverted forks to the 50 mm coventionals off the KTM greatly improved the steering . Its very quick yet the bike is stable at speed and over whoops .
I dont put much faith on recommended spring rates for a given rider weight .
Im a seat of the pants guy .
I personally feel most of the bikes coming off the floor are over sprung no matter which brand it is .
