Hello all,
I am currently riding a PA plated 98' XR400 and am looking to buy a EC300 for next season. Is there any year 300 that is better(spec wise) than others? I do like the 2011 electric start, but the $$$ is a little steep right now. Also are there years that come factory with lights and turn signals to be street legal.

Has anybody come from the XR400 to the EC300 smoker that can tell me how GREAT it is going to be.

thanks.

Ahhh... Where ya from volkoff?
It's kinda hard to give you any advise on which GG to get if we don't know what part of the world you reside in.:D

He is from Pennsylvania. I had an '96 XR400, it will be like riding a mountain bike by comparison. Find a nice '07+ and you will be very happpy, some great deals check the classified section.

You have a really great GG dealer in PA Smith's Powersports. They will have all the parts you need and fantastic GG expertise. Talk to them about getting a plate for the GG in PA which might be tricky. Perhaps they have some used or leftover 300 bikes as well.

Volkoff,
We have some 2010s coming in that have a MSRP of $6599.

Spoken to a few dealers...

all OUTSIDE of New Hampshire(ahem), might I add, and there do seem to be some great deals on leftovers, so keep that in mind.
Hoping to take a look at '11 XC250(e) when they show up- not looking forward to the drive, so hopefully I'll like it!
Scott up in VT seems awfully helpful and attentive.
That XR400 must weigh 260-ish? So that 300 should be at least 35-40lbs lighter?

I recently went from a great fat pig of an XR 600

To an '06 EC 300. The honda design is from the early eighties. Although the honda is a very well put together bike, and still has it's uses, the EC 300 is a far, far better bike in more technical terrain. I struggled to keep up with everyone on more modern bikes on the trail, and the XR was a joke on the track (honda must have paid Scott Summers a lot of money). The Gasser has re- invigorated my enthusiasm for riding.

I was advised to purchase an '05 or '06 because of the switchable ignition and the suspension spec.
