Marzocchi Shiver 45mm piston

I need one bad. GasGas p/n BE250514247, the "compression piston". Mine was damaged trying to remove it from the damping tube after the bottom stack came apart. Apparently when I tightened the bottom valve with an air impact (because I don't have the special tool required to hold the top), it spun the compression stack loose. Piston got lodged in there sideways. Shims were damaged also.
Currently the fork is at Enduro Engineering for re-valving but they can't find a piston. GoFasters doesn't have one. Marzocchi USA doesn't either. Got to get this thing going real soon! Help!

We've been looking at designing a new piston to address a few issues...

Let me see what we can do about getting something going sooner rather than later.

I appreciate it. I did get a PM from a forum member, so I may have found a part. I guess I need to buy the special tool or come up with something to do the job. I can't send my forks out everytime I blow a fork seal (which I've had a rash of lately)!

Don't need to pull the cart to change the fork seal...

We use a cordless impact to take them apart right now (so not much torque). That's another tool we need to make- the cart tool. I spoke with Marzocchi USA about the proper tool- they made something to work there, so they don't have something to sell. The guy that machined our Sachs cart tools did a really nice job.

The pistons fit in the cart really tight. I think I've only had one or 2 new ones not come apart while I was taking them apart.

Anyways, let me know if that other piston doesn't come through and we'll try to get something made up quick to work.

I would think it unlikely to loosen the shim stack nut from inertia while tightening the base valve. While loosening its possible. With loctite its never a problem, been doing it that way for years. Les told be that some of the Husky Zoke stuff has come apart, sometimes even in use! Maybe more of an assembly/QC issue. These stack nuts should be loctited or peened over from the factory.

When doing your own, very little loctite on the tap threads so it does not migrate to the shims. You should be fine with the impact tool then.
