mid engine slight knock

i have a slight knock from the top end i replaced piston which had the top missing the previous owner fitted the piston backwards also fitted new small end and .50 base gasket rebuilt but knock still there checked the flywheel nut which was loose but knock still there sorry forgot to say it,s a 2000 txt 280 could it be lower cylinder wear what is the piston to cyliner clearance thanks Brian

Was a while ago, but my 2000 txt 200 had a knock like piston slap, just a bit, was like that when I bought it though the 2001 I test rode at the same time didn't have it. Eventually after a few years I replaced the piston & the knock went away. For about 6 months. We measured it at the time & I can't remember the number, but it was like real tight with the old piston, maybe 1.5 thou. I might have gone from an A to a B.

So don't lose any sleep.

i check with a piston supplier and they say the skirt clearance is 1.5 thou so i need to pull the cylinder and check thanks for your help

Most trials bikes have a bit of a 'lean' knock to them when you rev them up or use them as transport. Check the plug color and if it is ok, don't worry.
