Never Wet Spray

LOL! When I eat I need that stuff too! My manual dexterity declines inversely proportional to the newness and expense of the clothes that I am wearing at that moment....:)

Yeah, not sure I want a "film" on my bike. Maybe for a rain weekend to spray it under the fenders and under the frame, but don't think that I would put it all over...

I own a self adhesive label co, and have access to silicone spray.
Works a treat, (and free), bike still looks new 6 months later

If it provides that kind of performance (shown in vid) for one race - it would keep five plus pounds off your bike in muddy races...

And I wondered the same thing relative to silicone. It would be interesting to test silicone in same conditions and compare to check cost/benefit.

Jeff, that is what I was thinking. We have mud here in texas that will not come off. A coating before riding in our stuff would make a lot of sense, if it only lasts four rides, then that may get excessive.

I'm no racer so it's not worth the trouble for me. It did work great for the first few rides though.

Travis, how long did it take to do the application? I don't race much anymore but I have come back from our forest with what seems like 40#s of clay stuck to the bike :) May be something to stick on the night before if I know that I am going after a rain. Our forest here has a lot of clay and black gumbo, stuff will not come off!

I did two coats of base and top coating, so with drying time I think it took me about 2 hours tops.

Looks like about $25-$30 for this "kit". Based on your experience - would one kit do your front and back fenders?

You'd probably get at least two applications of both fenders from the kit. It didn't take much to do the front.

I've never tried this trick but I've heard that ladies nylon stockings stretched over the fenders works well to keep mud off because the bouncing rips the mud off the stocking after it dries so not much mud has a chance to build up on the underside of the fenders.
