New 2010 EC300 - NOOB Powervalve Vent Question

Hello,

Just took delivery of a new 2010 EC300 (XC version in US/Canada I guess). My first GAS GAS!

A quick question: There is a vent tube that comes from the left side power-valve and runs out the front of the engine along the frame downtube. The hose is doubled over and sealed off with a zip tie. Is this normal? Should I leave it, or cut the zip tie to vent the tube?

I've only run the bike around a friends 3 acre lawn for about 15 minutes to put a heat cycle through it. It ran like a turd off the bottom at first - but the airscrew was set at a whopping 5 1/4 turns out! Surprised that it even ran like that! Turned it in to 1 1/2 turns (out) and it ran decent - still needs some jetting tweaks. The airscrew makes me wonder how the rest of the carb is set-up, but I haven't had the chance to dig into yet.

Not sure what to do about the powervalve vent tube?

Based on my few minutes on the bike I'm blown away by the handling. Light on the front end, but super precise, turns and goes where you point it - confidence inspiring. Can't wait to really ride it cause I think the combo of power delivery and handling fits me perfect.

Cheers,

Jason

Jason,

Welcome and good luck with your new GasGas.

Just cut the tie holding the tube shut and run it open at the bottom, as its a PV drain. They are tied up on delivery for environmental reasons.

Search and read, lots of good info here. Ask if you can't find an answer.

Thanks,

It was a NOOB question. Probably too tentative with the new ride. Guess I could have figured it out - think I just wanted to introduce myself to the forum.
