It has not been brought up in here yet but its very likey there will be a new US distributor for GasGas offroad bikes. I have already been contacted about a dealership and I'm very sure several other KTM or Husaberg dealers have also been contacted. Don't have alot of details but don't be suprised if you see some new dealers with motorcycles in stock shortly.

I hope you are one of those new dealers Donnie!

The new Dist is on a plane today to Spain to sign the papers.

I know this gentlemen very well and he has the brains and money to make GG a player again in the US. If he cant make GG work in the US, no one can.

I also know that there is a container of 2010s at heavily discounted prices being shipped this week and 2011s are only a few weeks away from being shipped!!

Yes. And he has the pull to get some big name riders on Gas Gas'.

an so the Gas Gas US distributor saga continues .....
How many has it been since 2000???

Doesn't matter how many there has been. What does matter is someone competent enough to get GG back on their feet in the US.

If ScottyR says this is the man to do it... Well I believe him.

Rod my biggest issue is the parts distributor also being a retailer. I understand thier reluctance to giving up retail and if not for them GasGas would not have survived in the US. But the reality is to make a play for stocking dealers the business model would have to change. I'm sure I don't have to explain to you how important parts are to the bottom line. Why would a customer get parts from me when they can order from my supplier? The bikes look good and KTM's biggest sellers for me are still 250 and 300 2 strokes. Not sure how excited I am about Sachs suspension but I will hold off any comments until I ride one. Need to get some guys up and racing local stuff as quickly as possible as the brand has pretty much died around here. Thats sad because when Don had them they probably were stongest in the southeast.

True enough but I've have never considered them as a viable option until now. Not that I thought the bikes were not up to the task but I never felt good about the commitment from the distributor. I have been looking for a long time also...long enough that I actually watched the soap opera in Indy between Don Knight and the guy from Miami. Had an account w Dixie Sales but I knew those guys all to well. A good company and I still do business with them but they are not motorcycle guys. I stayed on the Husaberg sidlines until 09 becuase prior to that lets face it they were not worth having. I love to race motorcycles and I have a soft spot for european equipment but I'm also a business man and as such I have to be practical. I don't bat 1000 either but I have a good feeling this might be the right time for GasGas.

I have a 08 300, and two of my ride buddies have 09's, GG makes a great product.
And I was very skeptical before I purchased one.
I, or we have been punishing our bikes for the past year with no failures.
I am approaching 100 hours with little more then basic maintenance.
Although I'd like to see some refinements, for what I ride it's an awesome bike.
I'd like to see GG get proper support here in the U.S.

Ok, somebody spill the freaking GG beans will ya. This had better be good;)

I agree with what dcg141 said. While Go Fasters has been a god send for the GG brand they can't remain retail sales and distributor of parts. Dealers need to stock parts though.

I was told that the original deal with GG and GF was that when they hit 200 units imported per year in the USA, then GF would get out of the retail parts biz. Dale Malasek has never brought in more than 70 enduros. GF will continue to be the parts wholesaler but will be out of the retail business from what I am hearing. The new importer has ordered 400 units for 2011!

Without GF, the US market would be completely SOL as GF did all the customer service, tech support, marketing etc... of the brand. The former bike importer was a complete joke. We all should be thanking GF for the work they did for the brand.

This could suck. GoFasters has been not only the parts distributor, but also our local dealer. If they move out of retail completely, we here in the Upper Midwest won't be the same.

W/O GF, I would have never pursued GG. If the above is true, I hope that GF receives an award, and that the parts distribution business is profitable for them. They have really kept GG viable during these trying times.

I completely agree.

I can't name names until I hear its ok to do so but its real and happening in short order. I have no idea how many other dealers have been contacted but I do get the impression if you want to stay a dealer you will have to stock motorcycles. I think the current list of dealers will be pared down and some new ones added. Most likely will involve current KTM dealers. I assume it will be based in the Southeast...my guess is Nashville or Atlanta. The current distributor will still do trials bikes.

Come on man! Tell us...we won't tell anyone.

Right guys? :D

Bike-less come on...
