Need to do an oil change on my 02 ec300 Ohlins 46mm forks. I looked all over on the web and cant find any info pertaining to an oil change only. I know Ohlins requires special tools for disassembling the forks but was curious if these were needed to change oil only?
I have worked on other brands of forks over the the years but never Ohlins, anyone have any tips on what to expect before I open them up? Also what oil have you guys used, I can get the ohlins oil but was hoping to find and alternative that would work well, bel-ray 5 or 7w possibly, I have used this in my 08 250 pro trials bike with good results.
Thanks for any imput!

Were to begin, well you can do it like all open chambers but you just dont get all the air out. This is what I found and do, I am sure other have other ideas.
1) remove the cap and spring and dump the oil.
2) now put the oil in like you would any other open chamber.
3) pump the the rod until you get a even pull.
4) now place the cap back on, thats right leave the spring out
5) turn the fork up side down and remove the base valve
6) now pour more oil into the chamber (this removes all air)
7) replace base valve,flip fork
8) remove cap, and pump rod some more
9) measure your level and install spring
10) now complete do the same to the other fork
I know alot of work this method get all the air out of the chamber.
This way was told to me by a suspension shop
Good Luck!

Good, this seems do-able. I was hoping I wouldnt need to buy any tools to service them.
I'll post again when i get into them, just wanted to get a rough idea before break something trying to get them apart.
Thanks!
