Piston to cylinder clearance.

I bought a new cylinder from S3 for GasGas EC 300 2001. And I also bought piston Wossner 8077DA (71,93mm) because I tought to myself that its a new cylinder it will be the nominal size (72,00mm) but out of curiosity I gave my cylinder to my friend so that he can meassure it. And he found out the new cylinder actually has 72,0178mm (20mm from the top).

The recomemended clearance for my piston is 0,07mm but right now it will be 0,0878mm.

Should I return the piston and buy 8077DB (71,94mm) and then the clearance will be 0,0778mm or it isn't that big of a deal?1000028780.jpg

Gasgas had 3 different piston sizes . Cylinders used to be marked A,B, C . For the different sizes . The difference was small like you’re dealing with right now . I would get the correct piston .

I would get the correct piston. Rings will seal better, you get less rocking of the piston which reduces wear to the piston and the plating, and it will just last longer.
