Powdercoating?

Well All,

I have a 10 GG 200, which Ilove and have no plans of changing this or next year. I think I may powdercoat the frame the same red as the 11 though, and may do the cylinder head at the same time. Is this expensive to do and doesit last well?

i owm a powdercoating business and it isnt that expensive to have a frame powdercoated, a couple of hundred dollars at most.

im almost positive that the 2011 frames are powdercoated, i just got my first gasgas last week and the frame seems to be powdercoated.

as far as powder coating vs. paint there is a little give and take. with powder on the frame the impact and scratch resistance will be better than paint and the uv protection will ba about as good as paint. the only thing you really give up is chemical resisatnce. you have to be a little more careful with brake fluid and carb cleaner with powder coating than you do with paint.

one of the stickers on my frame for the gas/oil ratio was comming off so i pulled it off and it left a little adhesive residue on the frame so i grabbed some carb cleaner and sprayed it on a rag and after wiping the glue off i noticed that the rag had red on it and the surface was a little less shiney where i had cleaned the glue off of. thats usually a sign of under baking the powder but it isnt to big of a deal as long as you are careful with the cleaners and brake fluids.
