Power valve maintenance?

Hi all,

I am in the process of installing a new piston in my wife's 200. While doing this I have looked over the power valve and from what I can see, nothing stands out as being wrong with it but I honestly am not sure. Does this thing require any regular maintenance of any sort? Is there any common problems that may occur and I can look for now? I notice that the bearings seem to move smoothly and the flapper valve comes up to about 20-30% of the exhast port window.

I cannot find much about this subject. Would anyone be so kind as to enlighten me on the subject?

Thanks,
Eric

Because of the limitted rotation of the valve I have found my bearings get clogged with carbon and I believe it slows and/or restricts the valve movement. Find the tech article about serviceing the valve. When you pop the bearings out you will see what I mean. I have always cleaned my bearings and they come out fine. Others here have needed to replace theirs. Others have also experienced carbon build-up on the valve but that has never been an issue for me either. Pull it apart. You'll be glad you did.
