Was filling the bike up today with the jerry can that i had full of fuel (5L) was putting my silkolene premix stuff into it when my mate said hang on

My mate said im doing it all wrong im premixing to much with the 5L fuel i was putting in

5L fuel + 100ML silkolene premix, Correct?

I was also told this was the correct level of mixing from the guy i got the bike from.

Could someone confirm that im correct? :)

When I bought my LTR jet kit Les advised me to run 32:1. Against his advice I have ran 40:1 since the bike was new. Same in the kids bike.

I run 45:1. Used to run 40:1 which always left a small amount of spooge at the end of the silencer. 45:1 has always left my silencer clean.

I run 38:1.

Why? More oil = better ring sealing and less wear.

My 2 data points...

Top ring end gap increased 0.006" in 91 hours at 50:1

Top ring end gap increased 0.001" in 49 hours at 38:1

This data was with AmsOil Interceptor. Your mileage may vary.

See premix tables here:
http://www.gasgasrider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=182
It lists the amount of gas in first columns, then the amount of oil in the last columns.

5 liters is approx. 1.25 gallons... so 100 milliliters is right as mentioned previously.

The link above gives premix for a variety of ratios.

I run 44:1 amsoil interceptor. why 44:1 and not 50:1 like gasgas says? 50:1 seems like too high of a ratio, and that extra oil keeps me from thinking whether or not this thing is going to blow up if I hold it wide open going up a long, steep hill.:D

Easiest, no-brainer is 43:1. This equates to three oz. of oil per gallon of gas. Couldn't be simpler. But then again, i am quite simple.

Interceptor is formulated to keep power valves clean which seems to work. In all honesty I just trail ride and I could probably get by with the same ratio I use in my trials bike which is 80:1 without causing harm.

Dominator supposedly is for more severe use like racing.

Same here. I'm a trail rider and turkey run guy. I'll pick up some Interceptor.

Thanks

32 to 1 here. I would rather buy more oil than buy more engine parts.

Just wondering what you mean Steve?
I have gone from 32:1 in MTX (castrol), to 50:1 Motul 800.... jetted accordingly .
I did this as I thought the fuel air mixture was out due to there being more oil , less fuel etc etc.
The bike runs great and is recommended to run at 50:1.
My question is" who is right"?
I know it comes back to jetting correctly in the long run but as I found out twice, more oil does not necessarliy mean less heartache.
Correct me if I am wrong.
Cheers Mark:confused:
