Prescott & Sedona Arizona

Likely I will end up relocating to north central Arizona. I've ridden the mile markers and south of Prescott 1 time. Is there good riding within 90 minutes of these areas? Sort of asking the question - if you move to Arizona to ride where would you live? Obviously can't ride in Sedona but are there places relatively close? Both Prescott and Sedona have good mountain biking so I can stay in shape to dirt bike:)

I spent 11 months in Prescott. There is riding close by. Also Wickenburg is near as well as Flag.

There's riding in the Verde valley as well.

Verde is not that great, mostly dual tracks. Wickenberg is a better option then Flagstaff and Verde. But what is really good is Sheridan mtn. North of Prescott. PITA road to drive down, but great single tracks there.
Where exactly are you moving to?

Have not yet decided exactly where we will live. I would say the short list is Sedona or Prescott. Sedona is obviously expensive and small lots. Prescott seems to have good options if I want some acreage and a decent size house. The road to Sheridan require 4 wheel drive?

Thanks for the information

Hopefully you'll give me directions to this Sheridan mtn area desertgasser. should be in cave creek with the family in a few weeks. part of the time in prescott with some friends that ride.

Oh, is it out by Camp wood someplace? If so I may have walked some of those trails elk hunting a few years ago.

Yep, same place. If you are in town ATR is holding an enduro there April 13th. Best race of the year, I never miss it!

There is great single track in the Bradshaw mountains near Prescott, as well as some good single track very close to Prescott proper. Join Arizona Trail Talk and post on the forums there. You will find a ride.. Or, you can PM me and we will set something up.

I lived in Phoenix for a couple years and met several good riders on TT Southwest.`Give them a try also.

Just bought a home north of Prescott. Looks like it is about 25 miles from Camp Wood. I noticed the Arizona Trail Riders had an Enduro a couple weeks ago. The Arizona Trail Riders is based out of Phoenix. Any clubs in Prescott? It will be at least a year before I permanently relocate but expect to be in Prescott a week a month before that. I'm pretty excited to be living near good riding. After I relocate I expect to be available to ride often and on the spur of the moment.

You will love the trails at Campwood.

Bought a place north of Prescott of Williamson Valley Road. I have on GasGas plated in Missouri. My other bikes have never been plated. What will I need to do for the other bikes if I just want to ride them in the national forest and not on the street? I have origin title but not Missouri stat titles. I though I read somewhere I would have to bond them?

My first Gasser only had the certificate of origin. If you get a dmv employee that knows what's going on it should be no problem to get a title and ohv tag.

I worked on quite a few houses in that area in the mid 2000's. Mint creek, talking rock and some a little closer to town. Real nice area

Stopped at the national forest office and got some maps. Took a drive up to camp wood to check out one of the paring areas. The Bradshaws do look good. I have my GasGas in Arizona. Likely will try to link up for a ride later this year. I'll likely then be visiting 1 week a month. I would like to thank everyone for the help.
