PV shaft movement (video) 2010 ec300

Hi all,

Can anybody tell me if this is right? I have read extensively about the PV but haven't found my answer really. Under gentle acceleration I hear what sounds like a reverberation from what may be this. It kind of sounds like it could be this just getting the sweet spot of vibration that makes it 'flutter' and wobble until the revs and/acceleration increases.

Should it have this movement, and if not, any clue to what's caused it.

Thanks in advance,

that seems like it has more slop than the ones I have pulled apart. Maybe try to shim it with some washers.

Thanks fellas, although that video doesn't actually deal with the part I have shown in the video. My video is the bearing and shaft end inside the left side PV casing.

As far as shinning it, whilst that is an option, if it's not right if rather deal with the actual issue as to why it's happening rather than just hiding the symptom of the issue by shinning it. Any ideas where this play may have developed?

Ok.
Here is another good video and he talks some about adding washers or at least where you would add them.

I would recommend you take the complete assembly apart and clean up. Maybe a bearing is bad...

If you do so this video will help you put it back together.

Also use the search feature in the forum. There is a lot of info that has been discussed before.

I have just cleaned mine up and noticed the same amount of play until the screws on each side are fully tightened which then encapsulates the bearings with the washers and stops most of the excessive movement.
Check the washers on each side are tightened .
Cheers Mark
