RK Tek Head on 2018 EC300, Seriously Impressed

Just wanted to give some feedback on this. My 2018 EC300 ran pretty good but had some nagging issues, had to jet it pretty rich to get rid of the occasional possibility of it running a bit hot and pinging when really beating on it, also a lot of spooge from muffler. Decided to try the RK Tek Billet head, gave him all my info (elevation, gas type, riding style, etc). He machined it to my specs and it was at my door 2 days later.

Just installed it today and did a good ride. Seriously impressed. It is black anodized and looks great on the bike. Bike starts easier, sounds better, no more spooge. Most impressive is it pulls way harder in the low/mid range when under load but is still smooth and manageable. I can run a gear lower in many places and just roll on power to loft the front or pull into the powerband where-as before I would have had to use the clutch a bit. It feels like it is impossible to stall now no matter how low you let it chug. Also after riding it as hard as I can it has not gotten hot or pinged at all. Just thought I'd share that I was pleasantly surprised by the difference it made, worth the money.

Where are you located? I am trying to get my jetting sorted and have been having all kinds of issues, I have all the bikes issues taken care of at this point. I have the RK tech head cut for single track 500-2000 ft. My fuel mileage is horrible 15 miles to the gallon. 42 Pilot, NEDJ 3rd, with 175 main. Going to try a NEDW and see what that does for me.
Where are you at with your jetting?

Im near Pittsburgh. I have a 180 main and 45 pilot but that's because I have a N3CH needle that leans the bike out and needs bigger jets. When I had the stock needle I tried the 2nd clip position to lean it out. It was still a bit rich even with the 175 main jet.

I would try going up one clip position to lean it out or try a 172 main. All that said I haven't checked fuel mileage so I'm not sure where I'm at.

Check your float height if you have not already done so. The height from the factory is typically too high resulting in poor fuel economy and this will affect your jetting.

Float height has been checked so should be good, learned that lesson on the 12 and 13.
At least now the A/S makes a difference, I have been chasing lean for a long time which I believe was caused by an incorrectly installed intake gasket and a leaking crank seal. I'm making progress just slowly.
The stock needle never worked well, lean and then a big hit although a 50 pilot did help. Will try moving the clip with the same main, then try the NEDW which should be a bit leaner.

I fought with the NEDx needles for months and never could get them to work right. Go with a N3CH 42p and 175-180 main. I run an RK Tek cut for high compression with 110 race fuel and run basically the same jetting except I am all the way up to a 185 main due to the fuel I’m using.
