stator rewinding

is this a cheaper alternative to a new stator, is it as powerful?
has anyone done it/had it done, where can it be done?
my bike is street plateable as is, but id like the full on ds lighting, without spending 500 an a new stator..

I have been wondering if there is any crossover for stators? I need to have more watts for xenon and more gadgets on my ´07 fsr 450.. I can order from a local dealer from Trail Tech but it seems that they dont have anyting for gasgas: http://www.trailtech.net/stators.html
Do you know how many watts the original stator is in my bike?

If you have the 2K2 stator the most I have seen advertised out of it is 60 watts. I am guessing but not sure that the 2K3 stator assy. out of a KTM would work on a Gas Gas and I see these used for sale fairly often on KTM Talk or e-bay. It's a risk but I think we should find this out somehow for the GG knowledge base.

Better yet perhaps someone here is willing to trade their 2K3 for your 2K2 ignition. Lots of guys don't seem to care about the output capacity and are looking for some quicker snap that the 2K2 gives. Post up a trade question.

It's clear with what you want to do you need the 2K3's output. I'm just glad the new to me used 07 300 I'm getting comes with the 2K3 ignition. I love the option of running big lights or grip heaters and lights at the same time without problems.

Your system is a Ducati energia 200W three-phase AC/DC system. ECU and fuel pump takes approximately half of that.

FYI, a 2K-2 is 35W. The stator coil assys appear the same as the KTM 2K-2/2K-3, but the backing plates are machined different. I suspect the flywheels are different as well. It would be interesting to find out for sure though. Best bet is to swap another member for what you want, I have done this twice.

thanks alot for quick responce! I am trying to get ready for the winter and what I need is handwarmers, possibly 8" front light (xenon) and maybe one or two helmetlights. I will check at the gasgas dealer (which is really nice) if he has something I could use. Otherwice it could be interesting to trade stators (but I would have to check out if its reasonable to send from and to Iceland spare parts like this, it could be expensive)

thanx!

If you have an euro EC you allready have the big stator. Then rewinding is the way to go if not going all the way with 3 phase extra everything stator(big bucks). www.storlyktan.com (in swedish) is the guy i´m using for rewinds. With this setup i´m getting 80w off idle and about 130w during normal ride. Perfect for 2x xenon and heated grips.
