Anyone have experience with Ohlins 2.1? How do they feel compared to Scotts? Are you happy with the product? Thanks

Gameadi,
I just got an Ohlins damper in last week. I plan to install it this week and use it next week at the NAtional Enduro in Arkansas. I'll let you know what I think once I use it.

Be sure it is the right one. The earlier ones won't fit due to the smaller upper steering stem bearing on the 2010/2011 bikes.

i have both right now and there are pros and cons with each. the slim design and low profile of the 2.1 is really nice. i like being able to mount it under fat bars without a bar riser and still being able to run a cross bar pad. there seems to be a little more adjustability on the scotts with the hs adjustment.

the design of the old ohlins (the scotts) is proven and almost bullet proof as apposed to a problem or two i have experienced with the 2.1 design.

overall im neutral on the 2.1, im not positive i woul dpay the money for it again though.

RBM,
Is it possible Stacy meant they weren't in stock? I bought one a couple of weeks ago and installed it yesterday on a 2010. The 2010 and 2011 are the same. I'm riding the AR National Enduro with it this weekend. It looks and fit good but it seems like the damping is a little strong. May need some break in. I'll know Sunday afternoon.

hmmm, im not sure. hopefully that is the case and they just were not in stock.

did u buy the new v2.1 stabilizer that you have to remove the upper steering head race??

mine felt a little strong also on my Honda. it seems that there is a pretty small margin in over tightening or undertightening the spanner nut and the stabilizer itself. mine seemed to be overly stiff when i torqued it down to the required specs.

Yes it is the 2.1 that replaces the upper steering head race. Has your stabilizer on your Honda loosened up any?

not really. i basically run it with the Dampening Level knob completly out. i backed off of my torque specs just a little and that helped a lot, but it eventually came loose allowing for a little free play which caused the spanner nut to slightly move inside of the x ring washer/seal and cut the washer into two pieces.

it seems that something isnt quite right in my setup, possible the race isnt exactly true or something else is not right because when i torque it down properly it seems to load up the steering stem bearings and create a lot of drag.

im not 100% sure if the "Tightness" that im feeling is the stabilizer or the bearings.
