Taking the right side cover off

Does the clutch basket have to come out for this cover to come off? I am trying to gently remove it but the front portion will not budge. I'm trying to get to the waterpump bearing and seals.

I seem to remember resistance when I removed my RH cover, and it was from corroded dowels between the case and cover. A little heat and light tapping with a rubber or plastic mallet helped me out. I was able to work from the back to front, then a bit of patience at the end.

Ok good to know. This place is awesome. I didn't want to get aggressive with it for fear of tweaking or breaking something. It seems to be moving, but just need to get to slide out.

Be sure to push the kick start shaft in or the spring can come out of the keeper hole.
