Tips for changing springs.

I will be changing my fork springs and rear springs for my weight and have never done them on any bike before. What are some things I need to know before changing? Will I need new seals too and oil? The bike only has 15 hours on it, maybe less.

Nothing special about changing the springs. Do a fluid change on the forks.

I would get the XTrig rear shock preload adjuster. Well worth it!!

Changing springs is pretty easy. Just locate a video that covers your particular forks, gather the correct tools, and get it done. The video I did on my Zokes was only the second time I have ever been in a set of forks so don't be intimidated.

What suspension do you have?

Just a question... does rider weight (and change to proper springs) have an affect on the valving?

For the rear shock you'll need a spring compressor. Automotive compressors tend to be too large in size. You'll also need to figure out how to release the bottom flange.

Fork springs are easy. Just open the caps and replace the OEM's.

does anybody happen to know the oil capacity for the shock? I do not see it in any manuals. Also I watched a video for changing fork oil and it the one I saw there was 2 different places where the oil was drained, and then re filled with 2 different capacities. In the owners manual it says the fork oil capacity is 950 ml. I have never changed fork oil before. Does all 950 ml go into one reservoir or are there separate places that need the oil added?

Unless you have the proper tools to recharge the shock with nitrogen, you don’t want to open it up. You will also need a few special tools to change the oil in your fork cartridges. If you’re only doing springs, you don’t need to open the cartridge and you will just drain/refill the oil on the fork tubes which takes 350ml

What size cap wrench do I need for the forks? I can find 50 and 49mm. Also is KYB 01M the oil to use? There are no different oil weights to choose from?

The KYB oil is VERY expensive. I use the Pro Honda 5wt fork oil
