NZ Browncoat

Been on 4 stokes for years, so haven't has the issue of dirty build up on the pipe. My EC200 has a dirty/rusty mess from the head to the first curve to the expansion chamber.

So, any Gassers got a tried and true easy method or product for cleaning/polishing up this two stroker mess. (Its the factory pipe):D

I have the same problem. I have cleaned mine several times with wire wheels and sanding discs and I repainting it but the rust continues to come back over time. Unless you get it down to bare metal and have it coated with a high quality high temp paint or ceramic coat the rust will keep coming back. You can sand blast the rust to get to bare metal. http://www.harborfreight.com/portable-abrasive-blaster-kit-37025.html

Why are you painting a nickle coated pipe?

I have a plated pipe on my RM 250, WD40 and stochbrite pad green one works for keeping surface ruts at bay. Navel Jelly will also take off heavy rust as well. Steel wool works really well also.

My GasGas Messico pipe is bare, so that gets as full dose of WD40 and stochbrite pad as well, more aggressive cleaning is required.

Thanks all. I will give it the WD scrub treatment to start with then.

Is it normal for them to have so much oily crap build up round the ..manifold I guess you would call it?

Your exhaust spigot (manifold) is likely cracked. Best case is the o-rings are just worn out. Mine was cracked and wasn't noticeable except all of the spooge that collected there.

What he said!!! Or the gasket is blown out.

Righto, soaked in WD40 for a day or so, then ran over it with a brass wire brush disc which runs on the cordless drill. Then used a automotive metal polish................and it came up great.

Wish I had done a before and after pic now.:D

stainless gasgas pipe?? never heard of it, but certainly would like to buy one. Anyone have a part # by chance? my local dealer for sure has never heard of it, and sure as hell would have a million excuses as to why they could not get me one. They probably have not even heard that the brand almost went tits up recently!

Just a thought I had using a cold galvanized spray might be of benefit. The color should be a fairly close match and stop the rust, not sure how heat resistant that they are though. Might suffice for the spots that seem to show up near the header.
