Tire Rubs

Hey Guys,

So I was cheap and I bought a slightly bigger rear tire that was on sale for my 03' EC250. My friend and the bikes former owner assured me it would fit, but it rubs slightly. The tire is a Dunlop 756 110/100 -64m. It seems to clear the silencer, and just knicks the mudflap that hangs off the airbox. Do you think it will be fine, or should I sack it up and buy a second new tire?

appreciate any help,

Adam

A 110/100 tire is fine, thats standard for a 250. The tire that came on my '03 250 was too small. Now they come with 140/100 FIM tires. If it hits the mudflap your chain may be too short for the gearing your running. Add a link and readjust, or the tire will eat holes in the mudguard, as it gains diameter when it spins.

Thanks Glenn. Will add a link, it just seemed like the axle was in a reasonable position (based on the ticks on the swingarm anyway).

From my experience, anything over 13/51 with a stock chain will eat the mudguard with a fresh tire, especially a trials tire or MT16(high profile). With 13/52 and 1 link added my axel is about center. I don't go by the marks.
