My NH title is in my greasy hands!

I had bought the bike second hand in Mass with a Mass title. I was a little worried when the State of NH asked for a VIN check. What the town office can't copy numbers and letters?

I'm so excited!

your bike has a non conforming vin ....
it doesn't work in the states computer system.
European vins get kicked out because the letters conflict with the us vin program. makes it look like your bike is from the 70's or something like that

Yeah I had the same issue in dirty jersey. The number has one extra digit so they actually wanted me to confirm the number and call them if it was wrong. RIGHT !!!!!!!! Get on that first thing after I laugh my a$$ off the whole way home. I barely got it through but I just kept playing stupid and saying "But the bike has a headlight and blinkers, why would you use a bike like that in the woods? Who rides bikes in the woods." Man it just gets harder and harder to cheat the system.

Its not all Euro VIN#s, just the older GGs, TMs, maybe a few others. KTMs and Huskys are fine. On my '00, 03, and my wife's '02 GG, all you needed to do was go to DMV with a pic of the VIN# in the frame stamping, to prove the non-conforming # was real and they would push it through. Now, the '07 VIN#s conform but they have a master list of homologated bikes that GG is not on. I slipped it by the clerk, they had the plate on the counter, but the supervisor caught it. Its literally a hard copy list in a book, not part of the database, at least last spring.

Yeah they brought that list out and even called Trenton but I kept playing stupid until the plates were in hand. I gave the old "this always happens, I thought I was buying a street bike to save some money on gas. little more crying and title was had. I doubt I could get another thru though, they are really getting smart with what bikes shouldn't be on the road which stinks for the rest of us.
