First top end refresh on this bike,ec 250r 2014,has around 130 hours and still strong on power, start super easy. But is time for new piston, and with this event I clean really good power valve. Is really necessary to hone the cylinder or he need a good cleaning,(I mean for those hours )?

Measure the old rings for giggles. If you're using good oil you might be surprised.

I use only the best oil on the market, and I try to find best jetting to not make the engine to suffer ,the compression was almost like new, 170 psi!? For those reasons I would like to clean up and not to hone the cylinder .

If you melt a piston you can use muriatic acid to remove the aluminum from the Nikasil. If the Nikasil is scratched then you need that replaced.

Check that cylinder for a ridge at the top. If the ridge is significant I would be worried about catching the top ring.

I can feel it with the finger but is small enough. And I will use same base gasket 0.5mm.
