Top end rebuild

Hey guys .. gonna be doing a top end rebuild on my 09 EC 125 soon .. I've got the piston kit & also the new gasket set .. what else should I get ? Are there any special tools I'll need ? Also any tips as this will be my first top end I've done

Best bet is youtube and workshop manual. Dont forget to measure ring end gap as you can damage piston and cylinder.

Piston kit and top end gaskets kit is about what you will need.
Regarding tools it will be useful to have a torque wrench.
It's quite easy to do yourself. Just jump into the unknown and try. Its a good starting point for learning to work on engines. If you run into situations where you need to ask a question, just ask. We are here and will try to answer :-)

A few tips:
- Clean the engine well before starting the disassembly to avoid getting sand and dirt into the engine.
- The arrow on top of the piston must point forward.
- put a clean rag around the conrod as soon as you lift the cylinder. This is to avoid dropping small things down into the crankcase.
- To make it even simpler, you may try to just remove the cylinder from the crankcase without first removing the head from the cylinder. I did this on my 06 200, but I have never worked on a gg 125.

as above, its not a hard task, read up on this site about the powervalve I would suggest removing and cleaning the powervalve which again is easy, I was a bit worried about this as it seemed a bit daunting from looking at the diagrams etc but once its apart it all makes sense.

the other bit of advice Id give is set aside some time to do it, don't rush it and don't worry how long it takes, just work through at your own pace and you'll be surprised how easy it is!

There is a Nyloc nut where the power valve actuator rod attaches.
Torch the nut to melt the nylon before trying to remove the nut and, even then, be careful when removing. Many have snapped the stud that the nut goes onto.
