Torque Wrench

Im looking to purchase a torque wrench for use when working on my motorcycle. It appears the old style beam type that you can buy for $25 dollars and are accurate to +-4% are nearly as accurate as any other type sometimes costing nearly $300. Any suggestions?

If you can read the beam indicator for your application, the beam is your best bet.

Young's modulus doesn't change, and you never have to recalibrate.

It's not as sexy as the $300 unit, but it works just as well.


The "click" torque wrenches are nice for locations where you can't read the dial, but for most motorcycles, a beam is fine.

Beam types are accurate, reliable and inexpensive and can be used on left handed threads. (whats not to like) NEVER use a click type to loosen anything it will throw it out of calibration.

I bought a cheap click type.Was good for about 8 bolts & became way out of calibration.Another lesson learned.
