Valvoline max life atf

Just thought I'd spread the word. My 300 gearbox has groaned and snatched since I've owned the bike. I've got the cr250 clutch pack, filed my basket and hub, drilled holes and removed webbing but still have the noise. The only oil if found that stopped it was capable of stopping it was Elf HTX 740 (this is what monesta recommend in their 4rt gearboxes) but at ?25 a litre... No.

I've tried atf-f and dexron 3, with OK results. But I found in a store near me Valvoline Maxlife which is a dexron 6 at ?9.50 a litre. Slapped it in the gearbox and safe to say, I am astounded, no slip, groan or drag. And it has a lower viscosity than dexron 3 (29 instead of 35 CST) so works perfect as a very high performance (read the spec for dexron 6, 100,000 miles!!) fork oil too.

Just thought I would share my good experience!

Thanks for Sharing. My Primary GasGas has a Barnett Basket that eliminated the issue nut my other one still has some growl.

Thanks for sharing. I run Valvoline Racing 2S oil as well, you should try it :-)

I had good luck with the Valvoline max life synthetic ATF from Walmart. As I recall it was the multi use flavor that covered most US and European cars and trucks. The sell it in a gallon container and as I recall it was not too expensive.
