Want to buy: 05 or newer EC300 in WA state

After 2 years on a DRZ I've decided I really like the tight woods and technical trails so I decided to get a KTM 300 exc. Then I started learning about GG and I think that's the best way to go -- if I can find one.

I'm already scanning ebay, craigslist, and various forums' classifieds, but I thought I'd just post this as well.

Still may have to go KTM due to availability, but I'd sure prefer to stray from the herd a bit.

Check out Taskys in Everett. He has an 06 200 and 250 both new and both priced very reasonably. The bike on cycle trader listed on Portland aslo looks tasty.

I did call Taskys on the 250 and it was sold just hours before I called. :( That was a stellar deal. I don't see an EC 300 in Portland on cycle trader -- just an XC 250 and thumper.

I did email the owner on this. I've never dealt with shipping hassles or complications. We'll have to see.

Shipping from down under to "up over" would probably be cost prohibitive.

There're a few used KTM 300 EXCs locally, so I may resign myself to orange just to get on a decent light trail bike. I could always upgrade later when the right deal came up.

Thanks again for the help. This is a great board.

Your right it is listed as an XC but the graphics show it as an mc. Doesn't really mateer as long as it has the six speed. With the flywheel wieght and G2 throttle should have lots of tractable power. The larger ignition is widely available as well. Looks very nice with lots of goodies including the 50mm forks. Buy a bike with linkage! There are also two 04's listed by private sellers in WA that look nice as well. They would have the older ignition cover and gemoetry but still very nice and capable bikes. You will likely not be able to plate the bikes from Wa if they are not allready. The one from OR should be platable at the time of transfer.

Do not be in to much of a hurry and go orange this may be a big mistake. I would rather sell you my EC300 then to see you go orange:(
Take your time and the right bike will surface.:D
Lee,
and no more of those six letter words, lets keep it clean around here.

That's a great buy!

Too bad Tasky sold that 250. Depending on my year end bonus, I was going to buy that bike at that ridiculously low price.

It looks all the 2007's linked to here lack a headlight/taillight. Prior to 2007 we mostly saw DE's and not EC's. However theses DE's at least had lights. Are the lights in the box? DE or EC ignition for 2007?

Greg

No lights, but the DE wiring is there. The harness/connector is set up for the expensive '07+ headlight. I just wired in a different connector to use an '05 Hebo headlight. Some early '07s came with the heavy 2K-3 but mine and others later came with the light 2K-2. Mine is a DE and also came with the rear fender brace/grab handle/tailight and plate mount, which is nice. It also came with F&R brake light switches.

You could always buy the 200 Taskys(he told me it would go for even cheaper than the 250) has and put the ebay 300 engine in it. I believe it would bolt right in.
