Hi guys,
I bashed in my pipe on my 200 last weekend racing (smashed the eline pipe guard and dented the pipe in bad) so I'm looking for a new pipe. I had a Messico pipe on there and would prefer another one, but I'll consider other ones if the price is right. Thanks,

Steve

Fill the pipe with water and put it in the freezer. I use a plastic bag and rubber band on the end of the pipe to keep the water from leaking out. The ends will freeze first making a solid plug.

Keep an eye on the pipe as the water freezes and expands. When the smashed section is pushed out, then take it out of the freezer before it bursts the pipe.

It is low cost, easy and quite safe.

There is a pipe repair place down here in Oregon that does excellent work. - I would go this route and avoid the risk of warping the pipe or "blowing it out". Pacific Crest Pipe Repair in Central Point, Oregon. www.piperepair.com

I have sent my pipe to Pacific Crest Pipe repair one time and later used the freezing method.

Pacific Crest does a beautiful job removing dents. However, they can not make it like new if it is bent. My pipe had a bend at the header, which they were not able to correct.

The freezing method did not tweak the pipe. The freezing method gets the pipe back very close to original shape. However, it does not do as nice a job as what Pacific Crest does for removing dents.

Pacific Crest is very good, a lot of east coast guys even send their pipes there.

Steve,

Try and find a GG pipe like that on your ISDE bike, but for a 200. Similar charactaristics to a Messico/Doma but thick like a Gnarly. Some minor tweaking may be needed to fit the older frame, but its a great pipe.

Thanks for the ideas guys. I think I'm going to shell out the bucks for a new pipe since I need to race this bike for the rest of the season. Dave at GasGas Pacific is helping me out so hopefully the damage won't be too bad. Thanks again.

Steve
