Water Pump Seal?

Hi,

Got an '08 ec300 that has 'milky' transmission oil by looking through the sight glass, am I correct in thinking it is the water pump seal that may have gone?

If so, anyone got a guide on how to replace it?

Are there any other ways the water could get in as I might try just replacing the oil first and seeing if the fresh stuff turns milky.

Thanks for any help.

More likely you pulled water in through the main trans/PV vent line. If you ride in wet terrain route it into the airbox, or better yet onto the frame nipple where the fuel tank vent is now, and use a shorty vent line on the cap. This is a perfect place because its a big, sealed area of the frame that will remain dry in any water crossing that you can ride through.

Do this, change the oil, and if its milky again then think seal.

Thanks for the reply, I'll get chance to have a look at it in a couple of weeks so I'll post if it's cured.

Update: The local dealer had a look at it as I wanted a few bits doing and they said the seal must have been recently replaced. Must have just been a bit of water left over from when it failed so the oil was drained and flushed through - looks fine now.
