What race would you do?

Hi,
We have an opportunity to go to a race and wanted to know which race would be the best one for us?

we like the slower speed more technical side of off road racing as opposed to the higer speed motocross/gncc style stuff.

if there was one event which one would you go to and why?

My favorite races are the stand-alone kind of fun races that aren't part of a series. There's usually a little more emphasis on fun, and a little less emphasis on sadistic sections to separate the men from the boys. Plus, I'm slow, so I like knowing that I'm not going to screw up somebody's series if I don't move over quickly enough.

My favorite woods race is the Meriden Motorcycle Club's Turkey Run (Saturday after Thanksgiving). Five laps or two hours, whichever comes first. Riders are awarded one playing card for each lap completed. Checkers when the fast guy finishes five, I'm usually playing with only three cards. I told you I'm slow. Best poker hand wins and gets first pick off the prize table, and so on. Almost everybody gets a prize. Plus, there's burgers and beer.
no AMA BS... just good fun.

That's my kind of race. Ask around about local clubs and goofball races, wherever you are.

I sort of like the big wave starts in a hare scramble. But nothing beats the gate at a MX track for adrenaline rush. Never tried an enduro - too much thinking about math (and I like math, but not whiile I'm riding).

Didn't you buy my 05 EC 250??? That the shipping company lost on it's way to Hawaii?

Dakar Rally (unrealistic for me), Romaniacs, or Roof of Africa. Baja 1000 Penisula run, if the cartels would ever stop killing everybody. Also the Coudaroy Enduro (sp?) in Canada.

Roof of Africa is the one I've zeroed in on. Fly over, rent a bike, race til ya puke for 3 days, then chill with the wife in J Berg for a few days. Nice week long vacation.:D

Hi!

Yeah that was a good bike. i sold it to a friend who sold it to a friend.... those are some good ideas. a friend wants to help me get a chance to ride/race a good event, if we do well we can keep at it. Getting older so its time to go for it. I was thinking last man standing, or something on us soil to start.

cost is a factor, roof of africa sounds amazing. Jo berg is sketchy from what I hear...

Last Man Standing hasn't been run since 2009. Don't believe there are any plans to do it again.

The Corduroy is this weekend in Canada. It is an adventure more than a race.

The Mauna Kea is a fun ride for sure. This is a nice event that happens once every year, so far I have participated 3x. Mostly it is a fast dirt road style of race...

If we talking bucket-list and I could only do one race it would be redbull romaniacs, but I do not think I would be racing, rather surviving!

Heard it was one of the "Classics" that you just have to run.
If it rains just before or during the event, it will be among the toughest 2 days(if not the toughest) you've ever spent on a bike. Even if it doesn't rain, it's still quite a challenge. Many guys are whupped after Saturday & Sunday is even longer than Saturday.
This year, some of the mudholes and rocky hillclimbs even slowed a lot of the experts down.
