Worn foot peg brackets

I have a 2007 EC300 and after swapping bikes with a friend the other day I became very aware that my pegs are angled slightly down. The holes that hold the foot peg pin are worn to the point of being slightly oval. So they allow the pegs additional range of motion, but in a bad way. I bet the only solution is re-weld the brackets and/or fabricate some additional support – and I’m neither a welder nor a fabricator.

Has anyone else experienced this? I did a few searches, but didn't find anything about worn or badly angled pegs.

Possible lead...

I think Ty Davis's company Zip-Ty Racing Products makes an oversized footpeg pin kit. It's kinda pricey but provides you with bigger footpeg pins and I think what you need to make the holes bigger in your mounts and pegs.

I could be wrong...but its a place to start. I think Zip-Ty has a website. Search it and let us know what you find out.

I have come up with a quick easy fix for the worn peg attachments. I bought my 04' used and found the same problem, my fix was to drill the holes out to 1/2" then I placed a 1/2"x2" od. bushing that I picked up from the hardware store. Insert the bushing through both sides and tig weld them in place. I then used a cut off wheel to cut the mounting window. finish it off with a flap wheel and a little paint. I have 4 yrs on mine with little to no play.

svt had a nice idea. I would take it one step more and tap the lower bushing for use of a bolt instead of a pin. That way, the wear point is the bolt/peg as the bolt cannot rotate in the bushings like a pin could.
