WTB Shorai Battery Charger

Do you find you have much of a need for one? I'm just curious. I've been thinking of buying one but I have a year on my Shorai and haven't really needed it. Although I think this year the longest the bike has sat s about a month. Though we did have a few weeks of 5* weather this year.

I have had my shorai battery for 3 years without a problem. But now I have had my bike parked for a few months at a time so I am going to start using a charger.

Makes sense. I've been lucky to get out as much as I have. Traditionally my bike will sit for a few moths at a time in the winter here in northern Utah. If you wouldn't mind, please let us know how the battery continues to hold up and what you think of the charger. Three years.... That's a long time out of a powersports battery!!

Yes it is a long time. Here in Florida the humidity is brutal. I will post an update after I start using my charger.

I just bought a new Shorai charger from Amazon. It arrived today and it looks the business. I just hooked it up to the battery and I will post updates.

From what I understand, you can use a regular battery tender. But you have to use it in intervals, i.e.- you can't leave it connected permanently. Hook it up for a few hours at a time. I don't remember what the rep said exactly, but I do know that we just use battery tender brand charger on any of the lithium ion batteries.

Update; I have been using my Shorai charger for a bit now. It works great. It includes an extension that allows you to connect the charger without removing the seat. In this month's issue of Motocross Action Mag there is an article on the use of trickle chargers only on various types of batteries.
