Xc 250

Thinking about the 2001 XC 250 for sale in Boise, can anyone clue me in on weak and strong points of this model? Also, even though my current budget is pretty small [my '09 trials bike took this years $$, and then some] are the newer ones all that much better? I know the '05 and newer are better steering, but how much would I feel the difference? For reference my last dedicated woods bike was a 1989 RMX...
Thanks, Steve

I would be all over that bike, it looks super clean.

The '01s have the same steering geometry as the '07 on up bikes.
The only weak spots are the sub frame and the foot peg mounts.

I also came off an '89 RMX, got a '98 GG and NEVER looked back.

I'm 300lbs fully geared up and have a '00 XC250, never have had any problem with my footpeg mounts. The weak part of the subframe is if it's aluminum or not. In '00 they were still steel, I don't know when they changed to aluminum. My kids '04 was aluminum and he tore it off right away by looping out (had been previously repaired). I bought a '98 KX250 subframe (steel) off of e-bay for $60 to replace it, end of problem. The XC's really rip in my opinion. I love mine. My kids EC is way more docile. Go for it!
