    Is a full rebuild worth it for a 2008 GasGas EC300? (Cylinder + Piston)

    Keep riding it. My 07 is took it apart for a leak in base gasket then the left crankseal went. Both times i measured the rings and they were only part worn. 300s don't work hard with normal trail riding. At like 10 years it was still OK after I'd rebuilt it. Crazy. Enjoy.

    Well done. And now you have replaced the stator, which do seem to have a service life, saving you grief in 11 months time ensuring many more years of reliability. Hope the spin makes you feel better. Anyway, enjoy the ride.

    That sucks, sometimes it's the slow crashes that are worst . Hang in there. Last time I broke a collection of rib I was sleeping in a tilter deck chair for weeks.

    Good luck. BTW I don't know why they bother with giving measurement for coils as a meter can only really test for breaks. But stator rarely fail like that. . .. Ok occasionally. Hopefully your specialist knows his onions. They live in a difficult environment and they don't live forever...

    Cdis can fail but common manufacturer for several brands if not the cdi itself. The stator do fail. Again, a ktm generic part on early ones, can't be sure about newer ones.     Well from memory if you remove the flywheel there is adjustment on the stator but it is fitted with a steel shimmer to set it as factory wanted. On my 200 (2002) I played around a little both ways on the dyno with a road tyre fitted for the runs, and found no advantage over stock.

    Check your basket isn't too heavily grooved. I found if I ran Motul Transoil std it was hard to start in gear. But Motul Transoil Expert. Perfect, never a problem since.

    A word of warning. I used to buy old engines for my racing when I started. Bottom would always fail. If they get left micro rust on big end will cause failure later. So always best for new rod and bearings for a long life.
