'02 EC300 brake light wiring

My '02 EC300 appears to have the original harness mostly zip-tied away around the gas tank &n airbox, but the headlight is still there and flick on with a little toggle switch under the fairing/number plate......not sure if it's factory or not.....

But the rear fender has a tiny light on it, no license-plate holder, but that tiny light is there with it's harness & plug, but NO harness from a brake switch is attached to it. If that tiny light is a brake light, I'd like to get it working again. Is the factory wiring diagram and/or parts manual a reliable place to start? The fact that the bike has a working headlight encourages me, there is no speedo or instrument of any kind, is it even possible to scrounge instruments up and make them functional?

Likely your 2002 GasGas300 is either the XC or DE model if sold in the USA.
It did not come with the full wiring harness for the brake, turn and lighting.
This is how my 2002 XC300 was delivered. It came with a 2K2 stator and not
the 2K3 stator of the EC300 model.
I bought the complete wiring harness, Added the 2K3 stator and did the floating
ground modification. Added a rectifier/regulator and battery.
Some where there is a post thread describing the process I did. Something about
AC/DC conversion. It was a rather involved process and a fair amount of work with
more than a few new parts required. Horn, Handlebar switch gear, Banjo bolt pressure
switches, turn signal flasher unit. Two bulb rear light with running light and brake light.
For me it was worth the cost and work involved.
Good luck, Jeff

Not that you asked, but, the wiring harness I recently purchased was
BE250334004 for the Rieju models. I got it from Matto Cycle.
To get a brake light you would not need to do the AC/DC conversion
I mentioned above. I suppose you could tap into the existing harness and
make your own harness for the brakes. Still would need the pressure
switches and tail light housing.
I could not find my old post in the archives for my conversion project.
I think it was from around 2009?
Good luck. Jeff
