12 EC300 Throttle Cable Routing

I can't seem to get the throttle cable routing right. Whatever way I put it seems to bind up when I give it throttle. I thought I had it but now whenever I turn left the revs stick or climb on their own. Can someone share the proper route for the throttle cable so I can rule that out?

Edit: seems my problem is at the bend on top of the carb. It pushes up against the frame and when I turn the bars it moves and bonds the cable. Not sure how to secure this right if someone could show me some pics.

The cable looked ok but it is the stock one so its seen some use. It seemed to move ok but it did have a bend at one end that could maybe get caught. I ordered the motion pro 10-3000 anyways to rule that out it will be here Wednesday.

I checked and it isn't catching on the steering lock tower. Should it route through that loop right behind it on the frame? I figured it should so it doesn't get caught on the tower. But I didn't buy the bike new so I'm not too sure.

Got the cable but no matter how I route it it either revs when I turn left or when I turn right depending on the route. Anyone who can give me the route they are using?

Ok I might have got it figured out, I find an older thread and it seems I need to route it under the tank. Let's see

So I routed it under the tank and it seemed to be ok. I found it was getting hung up at the eyelet with a zip tie that was too tight. So it seemed ok but when I hooked my vapor dash back up then it started revving again on right turns. So I disconnected the dash again and now it is still revving on right turns. I shook up the cable a bit and the same problem is there.

I seriously don't understand why it is this hard to route a damn throttle cable.

Have you tried safety wiring it to the rubber where it goes into the throttle? This will prevent the cable housing pulling free of the housing

It's the motion pro cable with the captive ends, no need for safety wire.

Mine is routed a-ok! I can double check tomorrow, but basically from the throttle across infront of the speedo and down to the tab near the rad. A loose ziptie here. Then routes inside and along the frame rail (parallel with the clutch line) and across to the carb.

Double check the motion pro part number. If you got the stock ktm one instead of the long one you'll have issues.

Correct part is: Part # 10-3000

The only issue I have is that the brake line rubs against the speedo and is wearing into the speedo housing. It runs down between the metal tab on the triple and the retainer/guide for the front brake line.

Ok mine is close to that but I have it routing behind the vapor dash. I'll try again routing in front but I didn't think there was enough slack for this.

I think I'm routing it differently then you though when it goes into the frame. You're saying you have it tucked between the frame and tank in that groove?

Mine is outside of the frame running under it. It didn't seem there was enough room to put it between the tank and frame, I was worried of binding here too. But I'll give it another shot, any pics you could share would be really helpful if you have time.

I confirmed the cable is the following

MOTION PRO CABLE THROTTLE T3 KTM. Part Number 10-3000 / 0650-1126

By the way should there be slack in the throttle if I have the cylinder screwed all the way in at the throttle? It seems I can't adjust this and when I do it just opens the throttle a bit or closes it. Maybe I just don't understand throttle cables hah.

Did more research and I think I'm doing it all wrong. Will report back later

Got it! Thanks everyone I got it routed correctly and found my adjustment was off too on the throttle end.

Just for everyone else who might have issues I routed it in front of my vapor dash and along the clutch line. It is sitting just a tad under the tank not between the frame and tank. I zip tied it at the eyelet too and then again to the clutch line near the bars.
