1999 ec300

Finally got the old gasgas going…Counterbalancer is a game changer, so far after a few laps getting the carb dialed in it’s much better than my 06 ec300. I got some kybs from a yz450 that are gonna be replacing the old marzocchi’s

Thank you
It did not have the counter balancer from factory…only had the balance weight under the crankshaft pinion gear. It had the two seats for the CB bearings but they weren’t bored to the correct size for the 6203 bearings. I did the “machine” work myself with sandpaper and a drill press. Sourced the counterbalance shaft and drive gears on eBay.

Did you install a seal on the left side ? My wild quad 300 engines have balance shafts . Not long ago I bought a set of 1998 250 cases for balance shaft . And about month ago drive couple hours and bought a complete balance shaft 250 engine and most of rest of bike . I have to build another balance shaft 300 to install on second wild 300 I have that was reverse model with bad ignition . Not ignition parts for this one anywhere .

I did install the balance shaft seal…that first photo I posted of it was just a mock up when I got the bearings in. I think I remember seeing a 98 ec250 in engine on eBay for like 600 bucks which isn’t that bad of deal knowing how good these old counterbalanced engines are. What ignition is on the reverse wild engine? There was somebody parting out a reverse wild engine in Maryland on fb marketplace last year or so.

That $600 engine guy reduced it to like $350 for another guy I knew but someone else was watching it and scooped it up before him . I paid $200 plus for oem balance shaft from cpd not long ago . Then $300 for set of used 98 engine cases . But recently bought 95% of a whole 1998 ec250 with complete engine all assembled. So will use this one for my second wild.
The 300 wild with reverse as mentioned has total different left side case , and bigger balance shaft . It’s a Ducati igntion with cdi / coil all in one package . And everyone talked to says if one part goes out / stator / rectifier regulator it kills rest of parts . There was someone in uk that makes a kit to be able to run the wild cases with his no reverse ignition but it’s like $750-$800. Cheaper to built another motor and have bike igntion so if it goes out easier parts to find
