200 cc class events

So if every manufacture quits making a 200cc machine will the class go away in events ? Come on GasGas keep the class alive ! There seems to be quite a few 200cc riders on this forum . But will they pony up the cash to support the class or are they going to keep there old rides ?

Races are trending towards more age classes.
So, run what you brung.
True but that still doesn't address the riders who want a 200 instead of something larger or even smaller. I prefer a 200 for all most all riding conditions even when racing against the larger 2T/4T bikes. I also prefer it for hike-a-bike technical riding.

Well the 125's are discontinued and 200's are seen by many as an in between bike. Ktm has the 150. The 200 is the same as the 250 except motor right? Chassis etc. I think it makes sense in a 7/8 size chassis like a kdx

I have had a pe175 new in 1977 then about 6 or so Kdx 200 now 3 Gasgas 200 so as far as is there a demand ? Yes as a one man buying machine they are always my main target . If they stop making them within a few years I will own the next best thing . At this point it will be a 150 KTM but for the next few years I have my 14 and 10 Gasgas 200s to ride . My wife feels bad and thinks that I may not be able to hold out , but I am a Gasgasaholic so I must refrain from doing something rash ! So I need a full sized bike with true race blood goodies no foofoo play bike . So if Gasgas comes out with a 2018 200 Matto will be getting an order . If not I will wait till 2019 then someone else will get my business , I am not into old bikes since my years of going fast are going fast . As to why KTM stopped there 200 production it could be that the engine platform of the 125 was smaller and lighter than a 250 but to go to a 200 they would need a 250 platform . So they feel that the smaller lighter bike would appeal to the masses coming up from there 65cc ,85cc, 105cc, 125cc, 150cc. Then it is off to a bigger 2 or 4 stroke machine . To them there is no need to make a 200 cc so guess what there are 100s if not 1000s of KTM200 riders like Tom Vogel who want a 200 not a 125 /150 but a 200 !

My understanding is that orange guys discontinued 200-s as their 200 was based on 125 and 125 is more or less impossible to make fit into new Euro4 regulations. 200 alone is too expensive to manufacture and homologate.

Not sure I follow that Margus if it is based off a 125 why would they not build it ? Because of political reasons ?

The Euro4 requirement is the key in Margus' explanation. The new orange 125 and 150 do not meet Euro4, hence impossible to get registered (plated) in Europe. The new 250/300 meet Euro4 requirements, at least when they get the fuel injection in 2018. Perhaps also with the Mikuni carbs used in 2017. In many countries in Europe you need a plated bike to race enduro.

In the USA we can have a 50cc 2 stroke in most states so why do 1000s of us ride 200cc 2 strokes ? I will tell you why THERE IS NOTHING ELSE LIKE THEM ! NOTHING ! So the powers to be can cancel them I have the newest model GasGas and it will give me time to turn my bike into a race machine . Time will tell

So I was at Mattos today X Mas shopping and saw a like new 2012 200 EC really like new ! That is a bike that is as rare as a unicorn :D if you want a like new 200 maybe a ride or 2 on it give Bud a call 1-570-429-0678 .
