I have been offered a 2001 GasGas 250 SM in good condition from a friend, with a 300cc top end, 1 years mot, hasn't been used for 2 years he has owned it, for £1400.

How much is the bike worth?

Anyone know the top speed/0-60 times etc?

Thanks in advance

Price I'd say depends a lot on condition for a 2001 - If it's got bling wheels plus the originals £1400 is looking cheap if it's in good condition I'd say but read below.

If the bike hasen't been used regularly I'd worry about the bottom end not lasting long since the oil will have drained off the bearings and rusted - happened to a mate buying a stored KTM - was in storage about 2 years and it's a complete and expensive engine rebuild.

Does that 2001 have Marzocchi forks or WP's - I'd try and get the marzocchi's they are very good.

The only other note is since GG's are cheap 2nd hand you could get a much newer bike for an extra £500 or so if your budget will stretch and save yourself some potential problems with an older bike. Though maybe not a supermoto?

Top speed depends on gearing and how much you duck down - enduro gearing I'm guessing would pull 80-85mph but since this has 50hp I recon it could top 100mph with reasonable gearing, my 55hp Pegaso is good for 110mph (claimed) and with the GG being slimmer but not as aerodynamic it should cut through the air about the same. I'd worry about this speed with a normal enduro fender though!

0-60 see the thread I started looks like sub 4s is definately possible with potential to get under 3.5??? Again gearing, gear changes etc and rider skill are all important. The 300 has a lot of torque so should help with fast starts.

Looks identicle to this :)
