2006 EC300 Derestricting

Thought I'd better jump into the right forum

I have just bought my first ever Gas Gas. A immaculate 2006 EC300 which has only been used by a novice for trail riding.
I have heard that these bikes stock are somewhat restricted for road use and I want to open it up for some enduro events.

What needle do I need @ sea level ?
What a good exhaust system to get it breathing ?
What's this reed valve mod ?
Is the airbox restricted ?

All help appreciated.

you could start with what country you are in.

The majority of the world are sold as enduro bikes & not restricted. Some are sold with matt black pipes instead of nickel plated. Confusingly these are either special 6day special pipes (on those models not your usual EC300) or the restricted ones and contain a cat that stifles performance but is easy to cut out.

If it is shiny silver then it isn't restricted.

might be worth playing with the jetting to get more out of it

I'll answer a couple more questions:

Needle, please see jetting threads in intake section & assume you have older type carb being an 06.

Not sure what you mean about reed mod, yours should have a VF block

airbox restriction. yeah take the lid off it. oh that's right there is just a gaping hole at the top.
