2011 ec125 Six Days

Looking for info to make a 125 run better, ex. setup, carb & jetting, piston, ign. timing, etc...
This bike is such a dog in my opinion. I've rode a lot of different brand 125's and this bike is a pooch compared to them.
Also the stock pipe is a Messico, does this pipe have some sort of baffle in it? This bike also has a flat top piston with no window in it. Is this the correct piston? I just feel that this thing should run better than it does.
I tried finding specs from GasGas on the stock ignition timing but evidently that is a big secret.
 
Check the reeds, compression and squish. They are very difficult to jet when the squish is too large and compression too low. There are several posts with details on jetting etc.
 
If it has the heavy 2k3 ignition/flywheel it will never run like a 125 should.
The Husky 125wr was a slug compared to the cr.
 
I cut the head to set the squish on our MC125 and it made a night and day difference!
 
Before I started our MC125 also had 1mm squish with a new domed piston and it was very temperamental with jetting relative to air temperature. It had poor low end and ran ok WOT. With an accurate compression gauge it only made 150 psi.

Sorry I can not find my exact numbers, but as I recall I a) cut roughly 0.7mm off the head mating surface (to raise overall compression), b)corrected the squish angle to more closely match the domed piston angle and c) set the final squish for between 0.85mm to 0.9mm. The 125 engines can use a little less squish than the bigger bore bikes.

If your cylinder is in good shape with no ridge you can install a thinner base gasket which will lower the cylinder. Also make sure your head is correct for the flat top piston. What is the angle of your squish band?

Another easy option for an improvement is to advance the ignition timing a few degrees.

You need be careful with my suggestions because you are cutting down on your safety margins, so you need to listen for detonation and read your spark plug for accurate jetting and timing.
 
Thanks! I ended up throwing a 35mm pwk on it tonight. I have to get the jetting dialed in but I can already tell that it was a step in the right direction.
 
That was another mod I did to both of our GG 125 bikes and it made a big difference on the bottom and did not seem to limit overrev.
 
Another good mod is to increase the 2 holes in the piston slightly, to give a better lubricating between the piston and exhaust port

I've also a bigger fly wheel on mine

By the way, which jetting are you running on the PWK35?
