2014 XC300 CDI ? E start CDI different ?

I bought a 2014 with like 5 hours on it , the motor wont start unless the high beam light is off , and it is in neutral , runs well after that , I think the reason has something to do with it being a e start cdi and a non e start wiring harness , Looks like it was changed from the get go , it has the start motor power valve cover that I replaced with a LTR one ... anyone run into this issue ? ... Does anyone know if they run different CDI's ? thanks Jason

Can you find an online parts fiche to check? The wiring diagrams show 7 connections for the estart CDI vs 9 connections for the non-estart bike. A capacitor stores charge on the non-estart bike.

Neutral always helps when starting since the engine turns faster. Having the headlight off might allow for a quicker charge to the capacitor.

I have both wire harnesses , the dealer happened to have one e start and gave it to me , one other main reason that forgot to mention is that the bike will kick back , After asking around , my friends buddy , had the same issues with his 2014 xc 300 , he removed the e start and battery on his , it would kick back and not start at all with the high beam on . We think that there are different CDI'S ... I might just run a battery with the e start harness and hook up some lights off the starter plug . maybe hot grips ! ... It would be nice to figure this out ..ugh ,,,

The cdi's are different ,that's why they come with the e-start kit.
If your e-start was removed it might cause your issue. I would check out the wiring schematics.

Awesome thanks ! that's what we thought , now I just need to either finds a cdi , or run a battery and the old harness ... Cheers !
