Hi guys,

Got a bit carried away spraying some WD40 on a few bits and pieces around the bike. Wasn't aiming for them but managed to get some on my discs without realising and have presumably impregnated the pads with the lube as the brakes have reduced dramatically in stopping power.

I will replace the pads but what do i clean the discs with? Any suggestions?

Also has anybody used pads other than the stock ones?

Haha, makes sense....will shoot down to supercheap tomorrow and pick some up...

I think the stock pads are Galfer but Pro X seem seem to be popping up on all my searches.

Often Nissin will supply their pads as OEM with the calipers including all other hardware. What you use is personal preference.

If you don't want to use brake cleaner, a non greasy solvent that is fast drying is a good choice. Just be aware if using flammable solvents around hot parts.

I have wurth spray bottle filled with shellite. Works a treat for cleaning lots of parts. Not so harsh that it damages plastics, but easily shifts oil and evaporates quickly.

Turns out I alreafy had some Nulon brake cleaner in the shed. Gave the discs a quick clean up earlier. I had already been over with metho as well. Will go a for a ride shortly and see if it has made any difference. Might see if i can clean the pads up a bit too instead of ditching a virtually brand new set...they only have 300km on them.
